Engineering a Safe Solution in Challenging Conditions

Publish date:

When a structural failure occurred on a 94m³ potable water tank due to irregular loading, it resulted in significant deformation to the tank roof, PRT and STBD tank walls, and the FWD and AFT bulkheads.

Despite the complexity of the damage and the constraints of working while the vessel remained afloat, Kraatz Engineering delivered a tailored, full-package solution that included jetty rental, drafting and design, stress analysis, and structural repairs.

The challenge lay in executing critical structural removals while managing the various forces exerted on the vessel. This risk was successfully mitigated through a detailed stress analysis and the installation of temporary supports to maintain stability throughout the repair.

This project is a clear testament to our team’s ability to solve complex engineering challenges and uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and precision—no matter the conditions.
