This winter the Kraatz Workshop took on a true Namibian-sized challenge, the fabrication and surface treatment of three 100-ton silos in Walvis Bay.

Under the leadership of our Project Managers our team spent four months transforming raw steel into towering structures built to stand strong in our coastal conditions. From rolling each silo shell in two halves using S355JR 6mm plate to building the support structures, cat ladders, feed piping and platforms every step called for skill teamwork and precision.

Each plate was sandblasted and primed then fabricated according to strict SABS and SANS standards. With ESAB welding consumables and a detailed Quality Control Plan every cut weld and inspection was completed with care and pride.

By September three giants stood ready. A testament to craftsmanship engineering excellence and a team that knows how to get the job done. From raw steel to reliable strength. From the workshop floor to industrial purpose.
